We are exploring some of the Psalms of David in my classes this month. You have probably read many of them, but none are more familiar than the words of Psalm 23.
The Lord is my Shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Psalm 23 is a song of trust and confidence in God. As I write these words, I am feeling nervous as I always feel before leaving my comfortable home to go on a trip. Early tomorrow morning, I’ll be setting out on a solo drive across the mountains of Colorado in my little Prius to the Telluride Yoga Festival. I’m sure it’s going to be awesome, and I’ve taken lots of time to pack and prepare for the trip, but I’m still nervous.
What’s the root cause of my nerves? It’s fear; fear of the unknown, of getting out of my “comfort zone,” of leaving my husband and kitties alone, etc. I admit it: I’m a scaredy cat. Yet, I’m excited about this opportunity, and I do know I won't be alone. For as the psalm says:
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For you are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
June was a busy month for me, filled with travel and family time, and I am so grateful. I hope your summer is filled with much of the same. But whatever is happening in your corner of the world, you can always take comfort in the timeless words of Psalm 23:
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord, forever.
Christ-centered Yoga for Beginners Course Update:
I have been working hard on my online course, "Christ-Centered Yoga for Beginners: A Framework for Freedom, Flexibility, and Faith after Fifty." Module One is done! It’s turning out to be a little more in-depth than I had originally intended, but I’ve promised you it will be available for just $47 for the premier launch for those on this list, so stay tuned!
New YouTube Video
Between travels and online course creation time, I made a new video (a moving meditation) on Psalm 23 that you ALL can enjoy because it can be done from a mat or a chair. Please take 22 minutes to calm your mind, heart, and soul as you practice with me! "Like" and subscribe if you haven't already. It helps small channels immensely and tells YouTube to show their videos to more people - essentially, it's a form of evangelism. 😇
